Amber Daniel

“A powerful education is one that ensures that regardless of background or zip code, all children are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to be college ready and college competitive. The school I will found is one that serves students who lack mainstream privilege – those disenfranchised by the status quo.” Amber Daniel will open a school for underserved students in Houston, Texas.

Unsettled by the differences she found when changing middle schools, Amber’s dedication to education began early. At her first school she read Shakespeare and dissected frogs. At the second there were no books for English class and not enough desks in which to sit. “This experience drove me to learn more about inequity in education,” she says. Most recently, Amber served as the Senior Academic Lead and Advanced Teacher at Mastery Charter School – Shoemaker Campus. Previously, she taught eighth grade math and pre-calculus, and served as the Testing Coordinator and Summer School Principal at Shoemaker.

Amber holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California and a Master of Education from California State University.
