Vanessa Solomon

Vanessa Solomon has wide-ranging experience in education, having served as a teacher, leader, and educational consultant. She has had the opportunity to work in and observe a variety of schools, and will leverage this expertise as she designs and founds a high-quality school in Los Angeles. Vanessa believes that “urban classrooms have an obligation to provide students from underserved backgrounds the skills necessary – communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity – to meet the demands of the challenging 21st century socioeconomic landscape.”

Vanessa was the Founder and Principal Consultant at UpskillEd Consulting, supporting teacher effectiveness initiatives, equity-minded practice, and technology integration for organizations such as the NYC Department of Education Office of Recruitment and the Los Angeles Urban Teacher Residency. Previously, she served as the Program Director for the New York City Teaching Collaborative. Vanessa also spent seven years as a high school math teacher in the New York City public schools. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Northridge and holds a Master’s in Secondary Math Education from Pace University.
