Join a Founding Charter School Board

Support the opening of a new charter school in your community by joining a Founding Board. Charter schools are public schools overseen by local Boards of committed individuals who govern the school and ensure accountability for its academic and organizational success. School founders from around the country are looking for professionals to join their boards – individuals with skill sets in education, law, finance, fund development, governance, marketing, and real estate. Founding Board members must be available to dedicate approximately 8-10 hours per month to support community engagement, attend monthly meetings, and prepare for charter authorization in the founding year, and then serve on the board post-authorization.

BES Fellows have founded 200+ independent schools in 50 cities across 20 states and Washington DC, educating 63,000+ students. Founding Board members provide vital support to BES Fellows and their schools, each impacting the lives of hundreds, even thousands, of students. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please fill out the form below and someone will reach out to you within 48 business hours.

We're devastated by the act of terrorism committed against the Black community in Buffalo - a community served by many BES Fellows & their schools. We'll continue supporting these leaders as they serve their communities & we'll continue the work of creating anti-racist schools.
