Repost: The Boss: Starting a school in Nashville was a ‘no-brainer’ for Lagra Newman

Lagra Newman thought she would attend law school. But after working as a tutor during her time at Vanderbilt University, she knew education would be where she could make a more immediate impact. She worked in district schools, but realized she could have more influence over each student’s education if she created her own school. She founded Purpose Preparatory Academy in 2013. Eight years later, Newman believes she’s fulfilling her mission of making sure all children receive an excellent education.
