Aidin Carey

As Senior Director of LENS, Aidin Carey (she/her/hers) designs programming, leads training, and coaches leaders to take on heightened leadership roles in their schools. Prior to this role, she served as Senior Director of Leadership Development, providing high-impact, mission-driven Follow On Support to BES leaders and BES schools both in their planning years and after opening, and trained BES Fellows during the Fellowship year. 

Aidin has a strong background in education reform, starting her work teaching English in New York City through Teach For America. She then worked as a writing instructor and grade team lead at Democracy Prep in Harlem which included operational, instructional, and cultural leadership for the sixth-grade team. Aidin went on to work for Uncommon Schools in Brooklyn, first as an Operations Associate, Instructional Leader, and ELA teacher at Ocean Hill Collegiate and then as Director of Operations at Excellence Boys Middle Academy. In her work as an instructional leader, Aidin coached teachers in ELA curriculum and instruction. As an operations leader, Aidin oversaw school finances, HR, student and staff systems, state and charter compliance, family and community engagement, and all data and reporting. 

Aidin has a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary English from RELAY Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Literature from Harvard University.
