Gina Musumeci (she/her/hers) is the Chief Program Officer at BES. Gina started her educational leadership career as an Urban Scholar’s Fellow at Harvard University. After receiving her master’s degree, she served as Founding Principal of Achievement First Brownsville, which earned strong family and state outcomes as well as a highlight in the book, A Chance to Make History. She then moved into a Regional Superintendent of Schools role, managing elementary schools in NYC, before starting and growing the Achievement First Rhode Island region from charter application to a multi-school cluster, with some of the strongest results in Providence. During her time as a Regional Superintendent, Gina led the academic teams; managed superintendents, principals, and other team members; and worked to change the attendance, school environment, and talent systems to create greater equity for students, family, and staff. In 2019 she transitioned from school and region management to consulting, in which she had the opportunity to lead professional development for school and district leaders in the US and UK, coach the operations leaders at Achievement First throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and run a national Hybrid Learning Community of Practice for leaders innovating in post-COVID school re-opening, through AF Accelerate. Having experienced the life-changing power of strong, healthy schools, she is fiercely committed to supporting BES leaders in achieving their vision for students.
