Meet Our BES Fellows

Christopher Holmes

2023-2024 BES Fellow

Build Track

Macon-Bibb County, Georgia

Dr. Christopher Holmes is a seasoned classroom educator with over seven years of experience teaching secondary science in his home state of Georgia. As a servant leader, he left the classroom in 2011 and leveraged his instructional expertise to benefit fellow educators as an academic coach and K-12 curriculum coordinator for the Bibb County School District. During his tenure as an instructional leader for the district, he met with teachers, administrators, and other key stakeholders to review student test data, observed teachers in the classroom to provide real-time feedback on their practice, and facilitated district-wide professional learning opportunities.

Through the Build Track of the BES Fellowship, Christopher will propose a new charter school in Macon-Bibb County. “The vision of the school will take special consideration to prepare students for the world in which they currently live and will live in for decades into the future. The work that will be done every day will engage students in content and instruction that will draw on relevant context and often require teachers and leaders to go beyond traditional practices.”

In 2018, Christopher began serving one of Georgia’s most vulnerable student populations when he became a curriculum and instructional interventionist for the state’s Department of Juvenile Justice. In this position, he oversaw the development and implementation of curriculum that aligned to Georgia state standards across multiple content areas, while simultaneously founding his own education consulting firm, Fully Engage Education & Resources, where he currently serves as CEO. Christopher also has experience as a Research Assistant for the Georgia State Charter School Commission.

Christopher is the recipient of many awards, and since 2015, he has authored numerous publications and presented at several conferences in the K-20 education space. Christopher earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Mercer University and a Master’s in Post-Secondary Education, with a concentration in Adult Education, from Troy University. He also has an Education Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University and a doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia.
