Chaundria Smith, Ed.D. is a student-centered and visionary educator whose educational career focuses on improving the quality of education for our most vulnerable populations. Her experience in the field of education spans all Pre-K to 12th-grade levels. Her tenure as an educator includes work in urban education, innovative school models, gifted/magnet education, International Baccalaureate programs, charter school development, and school leader development. She has served as a middle school teacher, department chair, assistant principal, education consultant, principal coach/mentor, and Head of School. Chaundria’s dedication to building educational leaders is evident in her work with principals across the U.S. She has coached principals in Ohio, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Minnesota.
Under Chaundria’s leadership, John Hay Early College was named among the top high schools in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report. The school was also given the distinction of being one of the top 25 high schools in Ohio. With high honor designations from many sources, she has led educational institutions to optimal levels of student achievement.
Chaundria has an earned doctorate in Advanced Educational Leadership and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Regent University. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Norfolk State University. She is a native of Springfield, MA. Later in life, she and her family moved to Virginia Beach, VA. She has now made Ohio her home.
