As Director of Leadership Development, Terrance is responsible for coaching leaders toward the innovative design, strategic development, and focused delivery of strong charter schools.
Terrance Mitchell is a native of Cleveland, Ohio who brings a wealth of practical experience to the table. Before joining BES, he held several public and charter school roles across multiple cities, including Atlanta, New Orleans, Cleveland, Cambridge and Providence. His experience as a teacher, instructional coach, principal, senior advisor to the superintendent, and work alongside the deputy commissioner of education uniquely position Terrance to collaborate across all aspects of the education sector. Practical experience provides Terrance a keen awareness of the requisite collaborative stance needed to support school leader coaching, instructional leadership development, and purposeful school design.
Terrance’s academic journey is a testament to his dedication and passion for education. He earned a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Morehouse College and an M.Ed. in Education and Organizational Leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College. He is currently completing his doctorate in Education Leadership at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
